Kim Crawford celebrated the launch of its trendy and budget friendly wine with this live action campaign shot on location In Vancouver. Each script featured an “elevated” moment made possible by the heroine’s purchase of Kim Crawford, such as a blind bottle cap flip being expertly caught by her entourage, cool billowing mist following our hero’s bottle across the grocery store, or perfectly pouring wine into a friend’s glass without looking while at the same time swaggering up to the birthday girl holding an enormous home-made cake.

I served as On-Set VFX Supervisor, CG artist, and compositor. We ended up with a lovely library of water splashes, smoke billows, confetti sparkles, and HDRIs. One strong memory from the shoot was practicing our wine pouring walk with the two leads in an alley at 2am and making the call to shoot that scene in two passes, one where the actress could glance at her friend’s cup and one where she looked straight ahead so that we could layer the face from one take onto the other. This ended up working great and avoided the need for tricky CG liquid sims or endless takes.
