While working at ILM on LED stagecraft environments I tinker with UE5 for personal work when I can. This is a little test scene I built as a tribute to one of my favorite games, Pikmin!
Ice Cave Environment Exploration
I was inspired by the breathtaking glacier tunnels of Iceland and built this small scene as a material study. In particular I am fascinated by the way light distributes and scatters through ice. I really enjoyed digging into the arnold shader properties to try and capture the feeling using a single material that relied on the thickness of the mesh and physically based lighting to get the desired result in camera. Built with 3dsMax, Maya, Quixel, Mixamo, Arnold, and Nuke.
"Autodesk University" Styleframes
A couple frames I created over a weekend for an Autodesk Pitch. It was fun to kitbash them together as quickly as possible with 3dsMax, Quixel, Forest Pack, Vray, and Nuke!
"Carbon Logo" Motion Test
As part of a new CG & Design reel from Carbon us artist folk got together and created short bits of animation centered around the carbon logo to be featured as part of the new reel. I was inspired to try rendering one of my favorite subjects…. an icelandic beach at sunset! Over a weekend I familiarized myself with the new Beach Waves shelf tool in houdini and then got to work! Built with Maya, Houdini, Arnold, Quixel, and Nuke.
"Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream" Motion Test
A motion test for Kiehl’s new Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream. I led a small team of CG artists to create this over the course of three days. I handled the initial layout & camera, scene assembly, lighting, and comp. Built with Maya, Houdini, Vray, and Nuke.
"KIA" Motion Test
A motion test for a big KIA campaign during the COVID 19 pandemic that would potentially utilize CG for all the “running footage” of their cars. Using existing assets and workflows from prior projects I created this package of full CG shots over the course of a week or so. I handled all aspects of production. Built with 3dsmax, Forest Pack, Speedtree, Quixel, Vray, and Nuke.
"Teflon" Styleframes
A styleframe I made for Teflon’s “Reimagined” pitch. We won the bid and I directed the spot, which you can watch here: herehttp://www.littlevfx.com/#/teflon/
Built using 3ds Max, Tyflow, Vray, and Nuke
"Lotto 7" Motion Test
A motion test of fireflies swarming together to create the Lotto 7 logo for a pitch. Built with 3dsMax, Tyflow, Vray, Nuke
"Adidas" Pitch
Styleframes I made for an Adidas pitch. The script featured musical & audio that would be woven into the fabric of the shoe. Built using 3ds Max, Vray, Fusion, and Nuke
"Atmosphere Drive" Pitch
Styleframes I made for Amway’s “Atmosphere Drive” launch campaign. Built using 3ds Max, FumeFX, Vray, and Nuke
"You Have the Power" Motion Test
A motion test made as part of a pitch for PRS’s “You Have the Power” campagin. I tracked the stock footage shot, built out the neon text, then lit & comped the shot
"Easy Off" Lobster Scan
As part of a pitch deck for “Easy Off” fume-free cooking spray we ran down the block to Shaw’s Crab House to purchase and scan this handsome lobster. Built with Agisoft Photoscan, 3dsMax, Vray, Nuke
"The Biggest Fan" Motion Test
This little film began life as a brief motion test of rigging techniques to be shown and discussed at a C4D user group hosted by Carbon Chicago but just kept growing. I got involved when we decided to create a footage backplate for the test and ran our little guerilla shoot, tracked the footage, helped process and skinwrap our bun photoscan, comped the shot, and ran a live 3D photogrammetry demo at the event. The original audio came from a youtube skit by Chicago comedian Kate James. Built with C4D, Agisoft Photoscan, 3dsMax, Vray, Nuke
